Face of the project
Josef Zimovčák – a Czech biker
- a multiple World champion in riding a high bicycle
- a holder of a World record in 24 hours nonstop riding for 522,42 kilometres (1996)
- he crossed USA on a high bicycle from the West to the East - a length of 4 458 kilometres in 28 days (1998)
- as a professional he humbled the trio of the most famous cycling races - Tour de France (2005), Giro d´Italia (2006), La Vuelta Espana (2007)

Josef Zimovčák (born 1956) tried his first ride on a historical high bicycle at the beginning of 90s and since that moment it has changed his life (at least partially). Whatever he does, he does it at full blast, hence over the years he has become the most famous rider on these machines. On the one hand he has started to produce their replicas with his co-workers (since 1993), and on the other hand he has started to break records and to meet his seemingly impossible targets. Josef Zimovčák just cannot put away his high bicycle. Actually he can – if he really must. In 2006 he stopped and finished the race, when he heard, that one of his accompanying cars had become involved in a traffic accident, where a motorcyclist had been killed. For this step he was awarded the prize of the Czech Fair Play. He travels for pleasure – his own, his friends‘ who accompany him, of those who join him maybe just for a short distance or those who just watch him when he goes by. In 2010 he organized the first ride of the project Cycling for children to support treatment of children with cancer. Once is never, twice is a habbit, says a Czech proverb. To become help a habbit, he has been organizing this project for the second time in 2011.
"You know, that sport is always connected with health. I have travelled on a high bicycle ten thousand kilometres all around the world with a desire to win cycling races and break records. Mostly I have achieved everything with a success. With an age and more experience there comes humility. I realize, that I would not have been able to make it without being healthy. Unfortunately everyone does not have a luck. I have always competed as a volunteer, whilst some people have to compete unvoluntarily, because the sickness appeared in their life . If it is an oncological diseases, moreover in the childhood, it is usually a very unsympathetic and insidious rival. These children have to struggle with it and often to face up many hard things. They are those, who are heros to me. It is a great honor for me to be the leader of the peloton people, who want to help children with cancer this way and to support them in their struggle."
Josef Zimovčák, the leader of the peloton
